Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L。 Armentrout comes book two in her Flesh and Fire series…

The only one who can save Sera now is the one she spent her life planning to kill。

The truth about Sera’s plan is out, shattering the fragile trust forged between her and Nyktos。 Surrounded by those distrustful of her, all Sera has is her duty。 She will do anything to end Kolis, the false King of Gods, and his tyrannical rule of Iliseeum, thus stopping the threat he poses to the mortal realm。

Nyktos has a plan, though, and as they work together, the last thing they need is the undeniable, scorching passion that continues to ignite between them。 Sera cannot afford to fall for the tortured Primal, not when a life no longer bound to a destiny she never wanted is more attainable than ever。 But memories of their shared pleasure and unrivaled desire are a siren’s call impossible to resist。

And as Sera begins to realize that she wants to be more than a Consort in name only, the danger surrounding them intensifies。 The attacks on the Shadowlands are increasing, and when Kolis summons them to Court, a whole new risk becomes apparent。 The Primal power of Life is growing inside her, pushing her closer to the end of her Culling。 And without Nyktos’s love—an emotion he’s incapable of feeling—she won’t survive her Ascension。 That is if she even makes it to her Ascension and Kolis doesn’t get to her first。 Because time is running out。 For both her and the realms。

Wow what a Journey Sera and Ash take us in。 From page one this book takes you on an emotional journey。 You laugh, you cry, you want to stab someone and then there is the ooh hell no, that did not just happen。 The characters come alive as you read, and the world you are transported to。 Such detail in every aspect of the book that makes you feel like you are living the story。 I absolutely adore the story with all the twists and turns。 Also I just have one final thing to say, “Reaver-Butt”! I’ve been looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint。 Love the characters, the plot was awesome and the handling of issues of consent and mental health was masterful。 The spice 🌶 level was perfect。 Cannot wait until the next one

THIS BOOK EXCEEDED ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONSFirst and foremost I wanted to thank Jennifer L Armentrout and 1001 Dark Nights & Blue Box Press for this eArc in exchange for an honest review。Guys, this book was amazing to say the least。Last year in December I finished A Shadow In The Ember after starting it the very same day it was released to the world。I really liked the story in the end but I did not feel the fiery spark I did with the From Blood And Ash books, but it was still a 4 star read。But thi THIS BOOK EXCEEDED ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONSFirst and foremost I wanted to thank Jennifer L Armentrout and 1001 Dark Nights & Blue Box Press for this eArc in exchange for an honest review。Guys, this book was amazing to say the least。Last year in December I finished A Shadow In The Ember after starting it the very same day it was released to the world。I really liked the story in the end but I did not feel the fiery spark I did with the From Blood And Ash books, but it was still a 4 star read。But this book? THIS BOOK?Dear Arae, this book blew me out of the water。Like, seriously one of my favorite reads of the entire year and overall my favorite fantasy read of the year too。This book once more showed me that I have a thing for blondes with daggers (*cough* Lara Veliant *cough* Aelin Ashryver Galathynius *cough* Seraphena Mierel *cough*)The story hooked me from start to finish。 There were no moments where I found myself yawning or wishing for the chapter to end。 It was the complete opposite。 The story starts right where the 1st book ends and, in true JLA fashion, there is a mini-recap where the reader is being catched up by the FMC regarding what happened in the previous book。Something that I adored was the relationship between Nyktos and Seraphena。 On Book 1 I liked them but with this book they solidified themselves as one of my all time favorite book couples。 I adore them wholeheartedly and would give ANYTHING to be them and to experience the fierce love they have for one another。Nyktos, as always, was amazing。 There are no words to describe how amazing this man (well, Primal so technically he is not a man and that explains why he is so incredible) is。 He is caring and compassionate and he is a better individual than he gives himself credit。 I really wish he saw himself as others see him。 I just want to hug him and defend him from the world。Then we have Seraphena f*cking Mierel。 This woman has grown so much from the person we met in the first book。 She is still the badass she was in the 1st book but now she is even better。 I want, like with Nyktos, to hug her and to maim anyone who dares to hurt her (i am looking at you Mrs。Mierel)。 I can´t lie and say I didn't cry reading her chapters。 She is so real that I feel seen in her。 I love every broken and jagged piece of her。Seraphena and Nyktos really became even better and HOTTER with this new book。 I won´t go into any details because SPOILERS DUH。 So I won´t because I want YOU to go out and read this book and find out for yourself why they are even better now。This book was even better than the first entry, it is an incredible sequel that exceeded my expectations。So I recommend EVERYONE to read it。 If you adored the first book you can´t miss out on this new entry of the series。Now I am (im)patiently waiting for Book Depository to mail me my copy。 I wanted to end this review by once more thanking Jennifer L Armentrout for creating this beautiful story and to 1001 Dark Nights & Blue Box Press for the copy。 。。。more

I lived for the foreshadowing in this book。。In true JLA style, everything is so very intricately woven together with the blood and ash world and it makes for a very thrilling reading experience。 Also, Sera is love。

Let's start by saying this book is book two in the series so be sure to read book one first。 Jennifer's writing always astounds me, no matter what she writes it always blows me away and this was no different。 I absolutely love the character of Sera, such a strong, witty character that is on an emotional rollercoaster and she handles it like a pro。 Her chemistry with Nyktos is off the charts and only gets better and better。 I really enjoyed the character development of Nyktos in this book, how pr Let's start by saying this book is book two in the series so be sure to read book one first。 Jennifer's writing always astounds me, no matter what she writes it always blows me away and this was no different。 I absolutely love the character of Sera, such a strong, witty character that is on an emotional rollercoaster and she handles it like a pro。 Her chemistry with Nyktos is off the charts and only gets better and better。 I really enjoyed the character development of Nyktos in this book, how protective he is of Sera is adorable but he was also a bit frustrating at times。 My favourite character in this book has to be Reaver, he is an adorable cute Draken and so protective。 He is literally the cutest。 This book has great pacing that keeps you hooked and you just can't put it down。 It's full of many twists and turns and ups and downs and really keeps you on a rollercoaster of emotions。 That ending though, wow that was frustrating but now I am super eager for book three。 Bring IT。 。。。more

Let me just say something right off the bat, you guys are not ready。Armentrout has once again created a masterpiece。A devastatingly beautiful story, that will have you wanting to strangle some characters a few times, and an ending that will probably have you gasping and wanting to physically harm a specific character in a way you never thought before!A Light in the Flame picks up right where A Shadow in the Ember left off, like right after that bombshell revelation about who Sera actually is and Let me just say something right off the bat, you guys are not ready。Armentrout has once again created a masterpiece。A devastatingly beautiful story, that will have you wanting to strangle some characters a few times, and an ending that will probably have you gasping and wanting to physically harm a specific character in a way you never thought before!A Light in the Flame picks up right where A Shadow in the Ember left off, like right after that bombshell revelation about who Sera actually is and sadly how close her end might be。Before we go any further, a reminder once again, this review will contain major spoilers from book one, so please don't read past this point!!So Sera is very set on her ways to complete her duty。 I completely understand that Sera was insistent on going to Kolis and continue with the initial plan that was set for Nyktos, but her instance also came about because she found herself being cared for。 For the first time in her life someone actually cared about her wellbeing, someone is there for her if she wants to talk, simply put, someone is there for her。And she has no idea what to do with it。As we learned in book one, Sera carries the Embers of Life。 The reason why Daddy Nyktos' daddy (get it, daddy? because Ash is daddy Nyktos and I'm talking about his actual dad? No? Okay, I'm cool I promise!) made the deal with her family and the reason why  she is meant to be his consort, his Liessa, his queen。Because she carries the Embers in her, Nyktos is trying his hardest to keep her safe (also, because he really likes her and he likes her sexy body), keep her alive until he can figure out a way to remove the Embers without harming her and without her loosing her life if she Ascends。The problem with Nyktos' plan is that he expects Sera to value her life more than she actually does, for her to stay still and to not run into battle any chance she gets and to not be willing to still fulfill her duty, "make him fall in love with her and then kill him。" But "him" it's not Nyktos, it has never been。 It's Kolis。 The fake Primal of Life。Sera finds herself without purpose and a realm of possibilities she never expected to have。She is sort of spiraling and the only ways she can cope with the knowledge that Nyktos was the wrong primal, she is the reincarnation of Kolis' human obsession, she might perish before she turns 21 (which is coming up in just a few months) and that Nyktos can never actually fall in love with her, is by being a bit。。。 destructive。Sera is willing to risk her life to make sure no one dies protecting her and do whatever is in her power to restore balance with the Primals, even if it kills her。Nyktos is also。。。 stubborn。 Some of the decisions he made had me wondering what in the hell he was actually thinking when he decided that was the best course of action。Some of the issues  they dealt with could have been prevented if they just were honest and talked things through, but I think because both Sera and Nyktos are trying to understand whatever it is they are feeling toward each other and not having to communicate is their usual MO things didn't always work in their favor。Of course A Light in the Flame is not all problems, battles and sadness。 There are so very spicy, sexy times that had me sweating and wishing I could find my own Ash。Sera and Ash have much to figure out, but their character development through the 652 pages of this beautiful book takes us through their highs and lows in the most amazing ways that you will not be able to stop reading。As I said earlier in this post, A Light in the Flame is a devastatingly beautiful and heartbreaking book, with moments that made me laugh in ways I didn't' expect, exasperation levels I didn't think I could reach and some of the most swoon worthy moments I have read in quit some time。Armentrout created a beautiful masterpiece and you will not want to miss a single word of it。 。。。more

I've been reviewing Jen's books for a long time and have been a huge fan! After all these years I would say this definitely would be one of my favourite books she has written。 This prequel series in my opinion is top tier writing and her characters are ones you can connect too emotionally。 I've been thinking over the past few weeks after I finished reading how to write this review。 I was speechless。 I needed a lot of tissues。A Light in the Flames picks up right where we left off in An Ember in t I've been reviewing Jen's books for a long time and have been a huge fan! Even though I love Poppy and Cas, these two, Sera and Nyktos are high up there as well as one of my favourite couples。 I can say it a million times and I will continue to say it but, Jennifer L。 Armentrout this is your best yet and this book will have many people feel like they are on an emotional rollercoaster。 If you haven't picked up this prequel series yet I recommend you do! It has romance, dragons, action and spice。 Did I mention dragons! Happy Reading! 。。。more

I spent a lot of ASITE comparing Sera and Nyktos to Poppy and Cas, but Sera and Nyktos definitely develop more individually and together in this installment。 We get to know them more than we ever have before。 They’re inexplicably powerful, but they both suffer from very real emotions。 I want to throw out a special shout out to JLA for her author’s note and for using this book as a vessel to talk about feelings that a lot of us have struggled with。 That scene alone made Sera burrow so deep into my heart that I don’t think I’ll be able to take her out again。 🖤-I like that we get to see a lot of things originate here that put things in the FBAA series into perspective。 Both series unravel purposefully。 And just when you think you know where everything is headed a plot twist comes out and hits you in the kneecaps。 The amount of times I had to set my iPad down was absurd。 😂-Overall, I really enjoyed ALITF! It was a perfect mixture of spice, fantasy, and surprise emotional attacks。 The JLA special 😂 I can’t wait for everyone to read it! -A Light in the Flame is the second book the Flesh and Fire series, an FBAA prequel series。 It will be officially released on November 15, 2022。 It is available for purchase in ebook, paperback, hardcover, and audiobook formats。 。。。more

The wait for this book has felt like a lifetime。 I have mixed feelings, there are a few revelations that revealed and not all them are things liked, one in particular that I can’t go into much detail about because spoilers, but if you know you know, it’s kind of a big thing。I still love Sera, her sass is on point。 I enjoy that she takes no nonsense from anyone but is still kind。 Unfortunately there are no chapters from Ash/Nyktos POV, which for me created a bit of a disconnect。 I still enjoyed i The wait for this book has felt like a lifetime。 I have mixed feelings, there are a few revelations that revealed and not all them are things liked, one in particular that I can’t go into much detail about because spoilers, but if you know you know, it’s kind of a big thing。I still love Sera, her sass is on point。 I enjoy that she takes no nonsense from anyone but is still kind。 Unfortunately there are no chapters from Ash/Nyktos POV, which for me created a bit of a disconnect。 I still enjoyed it but I think as a Reader we could have gleaned vital info about how he was thinking and feeling。Story pacing was fairly balanced, parts were a little drawn out but none the less it was still enjoyable。Kolis… bit of a douche nozzle。 I really wanted to feel more threatened by him but he was kind of meh。Finally a special mention for Reaver an Necktas, who were so great in this book。 I enjoyed seeing how Reaver behaved when he was younger, his relationship with Jadis super cute。I must make time to bust a do a re-read of this whole series though because there was a lot that I Struggled to remember。My Rating 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟 。。。more

Okay let me try to sum it up without spoilers…Sera is probably one of my favorite FMCs。 And this book firmly solidified her spot。 Jennifer’s depiction of her anxiety, her depression, her disregard for her own life, her emptiness。 It struck me so very hard in this one。 The scene at the pools especially。 I’ve had those feelings before, and still do, and reading them from Sera’s point of view was a bit harder than I was expecting and I had to pause to cry and process a bit。 But I think it was perfectly done and definitely right for Sera’s character。 The authors note at the end made me very grateful to Jennifer as well。 Thank you。 The world building and mythology building has continued and served to add layers and layers of nuance to the world we know as Sera explored it。 Sera asks less questions than our beloved Poppy, but she’s no less sheltered from the truth, and discovering the world alongside her is well done and not forced in this one。 I especially loved the references to the poppy flowers and the Balfour family! I love Easter eggs like that。 Jadis and Reaver continue to give me life and I would willingly die for both of them without question。 Daddy Nektas is also amazing and his interactions with Sera, especially at the Pools really tugged oh my heart。 I can’t wait to see them interact more with Sera, and later, with Poppy! The draken might actually be my favorite ever of this series。 Nyktos…oh Nyktos。 He and sera are really perfect for each other and they’re both so undeniably flawed it’s amazing。 He’s swoony but at the same time I’d like to smack him。 And same goes for Sera。 The balance is great。 As usual, the spice is top tier, the tension is palpable, and the angst made me want to scream and cry but also kept me up all night finishing it。 My one big complaint about this one in particular is the use of modern phrases。 I’m sorry but hearing Sera say “you do you” to Nyktos was just not it。 It pulled me out of the story and was just too much。 There weren’t too many of these thankfully, but that was something I didn’t care for。 I’ve not noticed it as much in the previous books, so hopefully this is just a one off。 All that said, I’m so excited to see how the stories of Nyktos and Sera continue to cross over into Poppy and Cas’s story。 But one thing we can all agree on。 Fuck Callum。 I can’t wait for the next one! Oh。 My。 Gosh。 I am speechless。 I didn't think I would feel that way again after a book (at least since The War of Two Queens)。 JLA has delivered again。 I absolutely LOVE this world she has built with the Blood and Ash series and the Flesh and Fire Series。 Such an epic, story-telling feeling that I have had difficulty finding anywhere else besides the classics。 Sera and Nyktos and their story had so many roller-coaster and revelation moments, that honestly explains so much in the Blood and Ash se Oh。 My。 Gosh。 I am speechless。 I didn't think I would feel that way again after a book (at least since The War of Two Queens)。 JLA has delivered again。 I absolutely LOVE this world she has built with the Blood and Ash series and the Flesh and Fire Series。 Such an epic, story-telling feeling that I have had difficulty finding anywhere else besides the classics。 Sera and Nyktos and their story had so many roller-coaster and revelation moments, that honestly explains so much in the Blood and Ash series。 I laughed, I cried, I yelled, I cussed out loud; so many emotions experienced with this story。 I cannot WAIT until we have more of Sera and Nyktos! I highly recommend reading A Shadow in the Ember first as this is definitely not a standalone book and maybe even a bit of the Blood and Ash series (starting with From Blood and Ash) if you would like to completely separate from reality and immerse yourself in the world of Iliseeum (and maybe Solis)。 。。。more

I really loved ALITF。 I was not so patiently waiting for this book to come out because, damn, Nyktos and Sera are fire。 I enjoyed this part of the series even more than the first book。 We got to see a lot growth from the characters in this part。 I think my favorite thing is that even though this is a Fantasy story the characters have such real feelings and emotions that it really makes you feel connected to them。 Sera has anxiety and other mental health troubles and it makes her even more real, I really loved ALITF。 I was not so patiently waiting for this book to come out because, damn, Nyktos and Sera are fire。 I enjoyed this part of the series even more than the first book。 We got to see a lot growth from the characters in this part。 I think my favorite thing is that even though this is a Fantasy story the characters have such real feelings and emotions that it really makes you feel connected to them。 Sera has anxiety and other mental health troubles and it makes her even more real, even though she is a badass harnessing the powers of the Primals。 So I love that Sera just keeps getting more and more powerful and she never backs down from any threats。 A LOT of things are going on in this book so I’m not posting any spoilers。 But, there are plenty of spicy bits between Daddy Nyktos and Sera so you have that to look forward to。 It will help with the other, stabby parts that happen。 。。。more

Holy moly。 That was a ride。 I absolutely flew through this book and it was SO GOOD!So where we last left our heroine, Seraphena, she had just been told the Prophecy by Penellephe and Holland。 She was aware that her destiny wasn’t to kill Nyktos - it was to kill Kolis instead。 This book opens with Sera having to face the ramifications of everyone learning her original destiny。 Everyone in the Shadowlands is cold to her (except Nektas and the younglings) and she is under constant surveillance。 Nyk Holy moly。 That was a ride。 I absolutely flew through this book and it was SO GOOD!So where we last left our heroine, Seraphena, she had just been told the Prophecy by Penellephe and Holland。 She was aware that her destiny wasn’t to kill Nyktos - it was to kill Kolis instead。 This book opens with Sera having to face the ramifications of everyone learning her original destiny。 Everyone in the Shadowlands is cold to her (except Nektas and the younglings) and she is under constant surveillance。 Nyktos is still courteous towards her, but it’s definitely awkward between them。 Add in the fact that she is actively dying and it’s just a mess of emotions。 When a battle breaks out she joins the fray and decides it’s time to get a move on towards her true destiny of killing Kolis。 But it isn’t as easy at it sounds and after being stopped by Nyktos they start to think of different plans。 So, this is probably one of the best JLA books in this universe。 It’s well thought out with minimal if any plot twists that would change a previous book。 The attitudes of the main cast of characters makes sense for what they knew at the time and the pace is decent。 I did feel like it dragged a bit in the middle as there was very little action, but it wasn’t as heavy of an info dump as we’re used to with the FBAA books and I appreciated that。 And really, while we know how this will all eventually end, there is still enough tension to keep you on the edge of your seat。 The tension between Sera and Nyktos is definitely still there and it’s excellent。 Lots of spice。 Big fan of it haha。 There are definitely things they have to work through and I was very happy to see them both work through their demons together and come to a better understanding。 The banter between them is good, too, and the irritation they feel with each other at times feels believable and not unwanted, if that makes sense? The side characters really shine in this book, too。 I loved seeing a bit more of the inner circle of the Shadowlands and how they all interact。 I also was happy at one point to see Attes, whose dimples will be passed down his bloodline 😏 There are definitely characters that I was suspicious of at points who were exonerated and characters I trusted who betrayed。 It kept me on my toes!I will also say, from a personal perspective, the Prophecy makes sense to me now!! I had a definite Eureka! moment while reading it again and feel kinda silly that it took me so long to figure it out 😂 There were some references to Poppy which I enjoyed。 The Balfour name is tossed around a few times and Sera and Nyktos talk about poppies, saying they’re beautiful and dangerous。 I really like the subtle references。 This was an excellent second book to the Flesh and Fire series and a perfect setup for the final book。 The ending wasn’t as huge a cliffhanger as a usual JLA book, but it definitely left me wanting more and I cannot wait to read it! 。。。more

A Light in the Flame was a mesmerizing, action packed ride!  As joy and heartache wove together as the story unfolded, this book was impossible to put down。 So much was up in the air, feelings and motives were changing and as the world showed us even more with what was going on, this intricately plotted story was phenomenal!  It became an instant favorite and A Light in the Flame will easily sweep romance and fantasy lovers away! “But what I can tell you is something you already know。 What you A Light in the Flame was a mesmerizing, action packed ride! “But what I can tell you is something you already know。 What you’ve spent your life preparing to become? What I trained you for? It wasn’t a waste。” Those dark, shining eyes held mine。 “You are his weakness。” The story started off exactly where ASITE ended。  I was so nervous for Sera and Ash, especially with what we learned。  I feared for Sera's future in many different ways。  But thankfully within those first few pages, we got to see their banter。  It was smile inducing, irresistible, and much needed when it felt like the weight of the world was on their shoulders。 Duty and sacrifice swirled together while secrets hung in the darkness。 And tension racketed up and down。  At times I didn't feel like I could breathe because I was so scared with what would take place。  Battles swept through the story。  And betrayal rotted the pages too。  The hurt was so intense, in certain moments, that it felt like our hearts would crack wide open。  But through it all, there was loyalty, friendship and love。  And those moments shined so brightly that they chased the shadows away! “Tell me I’m wrong。 Tell me!” he shouted, the shadows spreading until his flesh was the color of midnight streaked with starlight, and the fingers around my wrists became as hard as shadowstone。 My respect and love for Sera grew even more! Sera was loathed by so many, because of what she had planned to do to Nyktos。  And while I didn't blame anyone for feeling that way, I hoped that she would prove them wrong about her。  So I loved when Sera would stand her ground and do what was right。 I loved that she jumped into the fight time and again。 Sera was a true leader! That was also terrifying because we knew that Sera would do what was right, and the consequences including her life be damned。 She was good, kind, thoughtful and protected those she cared about fiercely。 And her bravery also bled into her honesty about talking about herself。 But even fear or hurt would creep up on Sera, and it could be hard to escape。 So whether she was slicing others with a sword or her words, I cheered her on every step of the way! “Do not order me about as if I’m a child。” “I wouldn’t if you didn’t behave like one。” I saw red。 “You sure as hell didn’t think I was behaving like one when you had me in your bed and your fangs in my throat!” “Whoa,” Ector murmured。 Fiery, silver eyes locked with mine。 “Sera。” Ash, or I guess I should be calling him Nyktos *cries*, was such a complicated soul。 He was willing to sacrifice and give so much to protect Sera。 But at the same point, he could break our hearts。  Was he only protecting Sera because of the embers? My heart kept fighting me that that couldn't be the case。  I hoped it was because of her。 And as we learned more, Nyktos splintered my heart。 On one side, how could you not love him? When he would share the words for how he felt, it was so easy to melt into a puddle。 And maybe I took those moments as more, but I don't care, I melted。 He also listened。 And he stood up for her。 He was always thinking of her。 But at the same time there was pain and hurt。 I can't say why, but my breath caught and there were tears。 Yet I kept hoping for the best。 Nyktos rendered me an emotional mess with his words and actions, whether it was joy or sorrow。 And still, I loved him with my whole heart。 Dampness rushed to my eyes, and I quickly looked away。 I had to。 Ragged, raw emotion swelled。 What he said meant the realm to me, because every word he’d spoken had been about me and my actions。 Not what he believed about me。 Not what I or the embers could do for him, but what I had chosen to do。 And for the first time in my life, I felt like I was more than a destiny I’d never agreed to。 More than the embers I carried within me。 I felt like… more。 Sera and Nyktos both wanted to protect the other, no matter the cost。 And while they tried to keep their guard up, in regards to feeling deeply about the other, they faltered time and again。 So the steamy scenes between them were scorching hot! The passion and what they did to each other *fans face*, it was sensual and erotic! But they were both tested。 Whether it was with each other or with others。 So I appreciated the lighter moments between them。 There was a scene with swords that added so much joy, happiness and heart that I can't think about it without smiling! But truths we don't even want to face came out。 Revelations were shocking。 Trust was broken and earned。 It was impossible not to be emotional about it。 And through every single step I couldn't help but think that Sera and Nyktos were the ultimate power couple and I kept cheering for them! “I know you’re strong and can fight。 That you’re brave。 Needing me or anyone to look out for you doesn’t mean you’re weak, that you can’t defend yourself, or that you’re afraid。 We all need someone to watch over us。” Heat crawled up my throat。 “Do you?” “Desperately,” he whispered。 As powers grew and others made themselves known, this book kept me in the palm of it's hand。 Shocking events happened that left me desperate to figure out what was truly going on。 And as we watched things we thought were right, become shaded in another light, the world we knew twisted on its axis。  My mind was blown! So。 Many。 Times! There were perilous scenes where we didn't know who lived and who died。 Foreshadowing left me terrified or excited。 We saw the creation of things we learned to fear in FBAA。  And we also saw some that we loved!  No names, you have to read it to see them again! And I appreciated yet again laughter during the moments that were intense。 Whether it was battles or heart wrenching moments, we desperately needed that lightness。 I just have to say Jaden, oh how I loved her antics, and Reaver with what he did for Sera, those two easily stole my heart! “My instincts work completely fine。 Earlier they warned me that you’d be angry with my decision to go out onto the Rise。” His eyes narrowed into thin, glowing slits。 “Have you ever tried, oh, I don’t know? Listening to it? Valuing your life?” “I’ve never really had the opportunity to do so, now, have I?” I snapped。 Nyktos went completely still, all except his eyes。 With unthinkable sacrifices, shocking revelations and emotional moments that leave tears falling down our face, A Light in the Flame is a must read! I was so excited while reading this book, but dread kept pooling in my stomach too。 And there were plenty of scenes that definitely justified that dread! Unspeakable acts made me want to scream at the injustice。  My blood boiled, and I wanted revenge so dark that it would swallow the other person whole。 But at the same time, I felt so much hope for what was to come。 The friendship, the caring, the love that flowed throughout these pages was heartwarming and will leave a smile on your face。 But be prepared, because the ending of this book, ohhhh it's a good one。 Fans of perilous moments will enjoy! And while it's a cliffhanger in a way, in another way there's something to think about。 To hope for。 And while I do that, I'll be desperately waiting for the release of the next book! I would not crack here。 I would not break。 I would not。 I would not。 I would not。 Not today。 My hands steadied。 My chest loosened。 My heart beat。 I breathed。 I was nothing once more。 PS  Someones wish broke me。 I clamped my jaw shut as I slammed my palm against the door, searching for anger。 For fury。 But all I found was grief。 Hurt。 Disappointment。 In him。 In me。 PPS I cried 15 times。  Yes 15 times。 This book undid me。Spoiler Quotes: I'll come back on release day and add these, but put a spoiler tag on them ♥*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, provided by the author。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。*For more of my reviews, please visit: 。。。more

He felt…gods, my head fell back。 He felt like we were made for each other。 But there’s still so much to their relationship that has to be resolved, and it's a beautifully emotional journey as they do that。 I loved Sera's strength, courage and sass, and her determination to embrace her new life and all that she's feeling。 And we learn so much more about Nyktos in this book, and every little thing just made me love him more! He's a total badass of course, but he’s a tortured soul and has his vulnerabilities, and Sera coming into his life has him feeling things he's never experienced before。 I loved watching him experience the wonder of it all, and loved how he accepts her and all of the changes that she brings into his world。 “What I feel is the closest thing to peace I’ve ever experienced。” While that’s going on, things are developing in the world of Primals and Gods。 There’s a lot that goes on in this book and the complexity of the worlds, and how cleverly the storylines between the two series are woven together, blows my mind。 JLA must have one massive plotting board in her house to keep everything straight and track the story。 The intricacies of it all are so well developed。With Sera’s arrival bringing such big changes, the situation is tense, and there’s a lot of fantastic action。 The battles are intense and exciting, and I could see the fight scenes play out like a movie in front of me as I read。 Some of them are pure entertainment, others had me on the edge of my seat。 The rest of the Shadowlands crew play a big part。 I loved getting to know these fabulous characters even more, and there are several characters in particular who just shine, and the friendly snark and teasing is so freaking entertaining as they grow closer。 “Are you feeling unwell?” Rhain blurted out。“I feel quite fine,” I told him。 “And I know why everyone keeps asking me that。”“Keeps?” Nyktos questioned。“Orphine asked if I was fine about two dozen times,” I said, exaggerating。“Probably because you’re being…” Rhain frowned。 “Polite。”My expression mirrored his。 “I don’t know why that would make anyone think I’m unwell。”“Have you met yourself?” Rhain countered。 There are so many people to love, so many people to hate, and everything in between。 I loved being wrapped up in in this world and I didn’t want to leave。 And then JLA drops a cliffhanger that left me reeling in more ways than one! The emotional punches in those final chapters had my heart pounding, and I am desperate to continue the story。 “I would have loved you if I could have。 There would’ve been no stopping me。” This is such a fantastic read。 I laughed, I cried, I gasped and swooned, and I cherished all of it, reading several parts of the story multiple times just to take it all in。 This world is an all-time fave, if you haven’t started these books now, you are missing out。 I cannot get enough, and I absolutely loved this one!5 fantastic stars! An Advanced Review Copy was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

I loved it。 Sera is strong-willed, unwavering, sassy but also level minded。 Her struggles with anxiety were delved into in this book and I really loved that Jen included that。 When bad things happen, she is down to earth and understands what every decision means。 And she's also so selfless, there were moments I even thought she was too selfless in this book because she has to come to the bitter acceptance of choices more than most would, and she does so with the understanding that it's the best decision, which just broke me。 We got to see so much more of Nyktos in this book。 He has been through a lot, and I loved the deeper insight into that, this guy/god has been through a world of hurt and lies but still manages to be considerate and good。 He is stubborn and thinks he can fix everything。 I felt like we saw him grow alot as well in this book, he still made a ton of mistakes, past and present, that caused a lot of issues that didn't need to happen。 His loyalty, the way he cares for others, and his strength makes him such an awesome character。Sera and Nyktos, they were everything。 They have my heart。 How they are with each other, the way they react to one another and even how devastating their story was from the beginning。 While they were getting a lot of hurt thrown at them, they still managed to have those moments which I adored。 The spiced was so good in this book, Jen always knows how to write a great scene! This book will devesting and beautiful, packed with emotional torment from start to finish。 The plot was engaging, with great pacing and lots of reveals and twists and turns。 There were moments I guessed what happens and moments that shook me。 We see some of our favourite characters from From Blood and Ash cross over into this book, which I loved。 I loved seeing Nektas and the Drakken。 And that ending! Another amazing sequel by JLA。 So much romance, action and one hell of a cliff hanger。 Left me wanted more and more。 We see so many sides of Ash and Sera as their relationship develops。 One of the best things JLA does is write amazing supporting characters。 With this book, it comes in the form of Nektas and I was not disappointed。 So many others to mention。 A great group of characters, an exciting storyline, lots of sexy time and action。 Now the torture waiting for the next one。

A Light in the Flame is the second installment in the Flesh and Fire series, within the Blood and Ash world。 THIS NOVEL!!! Let me tell you, this made me feel things I haven't felt in a long time while reading。 I felt sorrow, anger, excitement, satisfaction, just to name a few。 I took my time with this one and read it a little slower than I typically do as I needed to savor this knowing I would have to wait a while for the next one and it was well worth it。 We pick up where we left off in the las A Light in the Flame is the second installment in the Flesh and Fire series, within the Blood and Ash world。 THIS NOVEL!!! "Love makes anything possible。 Makes anyone capable of the unexpected。"Thank you to JLA for the ARC in exchange for my honest (SPOILER FREE) review。 This book。。。。I devoured it。Ate it up like the sweetest candy。Like most of Jennifer's books, I fell in love with her characters all over again。 The friendships。 The romance。 **CHEF'S KISS**。 While I was one of those people who saw glaring similarities between Sera and Nyktos vs。 Poppy and Casteel when I read the first in this series, this book change "Love makes anything possible。 Makes anyone capable of the unexpected。"Thank you to JLA for the ARC in exchange for my honest (SPOILER FREE) review。 This book。。。。I devoured it。Ate it up like the sweetest candy。Like most of Jennifer's books, I fell in love with her characters all over again。 The friendships。 The romance。 **CHEF'S KISS**。 While I was one of those people who saw glaring similarities between Sera and Nyktos vs。 Poppy and Casteel when I read the first in this series, this book changed that and made me see their relationship in a whole new light。 This book made me FEEL。 There was one point where I physically couldn't breath because of what was happening to Sera and her emotions。 My stomach was in my throat。 The only thing I could hear was my heartbeat in my head。 It was such a lovely feeling to be so immersed in the story like that。I would say that ALITF is on the slower side compared to the first, but it was not at all boring。 The focus of this book seemed to revolve around the relationship between Sera and Nyktos and figuring out their dynamic and battling their intense attraction while also dealing with everything revealed from the end of ASITE。 Basically, Sera is a QUEEN and Nyktos is DADDY。 The spicy scenes in this book live in my mind on repeat。 While this book mainly focuses on Sera and Nyktos (and lovely side-characters-- shout out to Reaver-butt and Nektas) there is A LOT going on with the world building that I believe will carry over to other books, so pay attention。 I enjoy this series and the Blood and Ash series, but it can get confusing sometimes and I forget a lot of the information prior to reading a new book。 JLA does a fantastic job making me crave more of this world, though。 I look forward to the third installment in this series and seeing how everything comes together for all of these characters。 。。。more
